Bailing out the banks

Loading ...What’s the story with the government giving money to the banks? Where are they getting this money from? Are they taking out loans with other banks?
Sounds a bit like paying off your visa with your mastercard and your mastercard with your visa.
Now in fairness, I haven’t actually looked into this whatsoever so this is a broad statement. I dare you to educate me!
